Under the cliffs and behind this tower runs the Hawkesbury River, this area has been farmland since the first settlers arrived in Australia. The river once was busy with boats transporting produce and the tower probably served as a beacon or rivermasters lookout.

This is a beautiful capture of the place. I also find the tower interesting, as I like history. The colors in this shot are grand.

The colours in this photo where the sun is hitting the grass and tree really highlight it! Excellent work! It placed very highly too!

At first I thought this was a miniature building, but after reading your comments, I see what it's all about. I gave it an 8, reminds me of a lighthouse and I love lighthouses. Nice work! :)

Very nicely captured! Great vibrant colors in an otherwise black and white challenge. Where is this building and what was it's purpose? It looks like a lighthouse, but I don't think that's what it is nor a silo...

Love the shot, the colors are great, awesome composition but your highlights are a bit too blown out.

lovely colours and interesting subject, it's a shame the building is not a little more prominent and a little less central. The white of the tree naturally takes my eye away from the main subject

Good colors and good exposure. Wonder what the shot would have looked like if you framed that structure a bit to the left, so it wasn't quite so centered. Still, a pleasant image.

The colours sing. The grass in the front is made up of such beautiful shapes. A wonderful combination of form and colour. I just love it.

The tree which is the brightest part of the image pulls the eyes I didnt even notice the building in the dark area when I first look at it.

Good composition without going overboard on saturation & sharpness.
Nice color transistions in the foliage - green to red to yellow.
Well Done.

Amazing lighting in this. I love that the building is subdued and in shadow while the tree and shrubs are brightly lit. Makes for a wonderful composition.

beautiful colors and photo. hmm...the building could have been a bit less dark and seems a little overshadowed by lighted plants and tree. but that's a minor thing. nice job.

More DOF so the foreground was in sharp focus and I would have given a 9 or 10. The colors and framing of this photo are great, I really like this.

I find this a pretty composition. Good eye. I really like the white tree, and there is some nice color and tones in the grasses and bushes. Focus seems like it could maybe be a tad sharper but not too bad. I'm mainly wondering if perhaps with different adj. with levels or curves, you could get more "pop" out of the main subject, the tower?

Hmm. First, it's a landscape shot with a building in it. Next, it's titled 'silent sentry' which suggests habitation.... Well, never mind. I like the strong lighting. I like the composition. I like the building and its placement in the photo.

Nice shot I like the color and lighting but is it truly abandoned? As an image it rates highest so far for me.

Old building in the midst of all that color. I like it. Would have been nice if the light would have shown just a bit more on the building, like it did the tree.

Very Cool Image. Lots of wonderful textures and full of brilliant colors. Great composition filled with an array of colors and I love the bright white bark on the tree in contrast to the dark tower. Very nice capture. <8>
