PS Work:
Camera raw and Shadows tool to get into the deeper gatehouse details, Crop, Sharpen and sharpen more, convert to mono using two layers of hue/sat with top one set to desat 100, then adjusting lower layer to saturate the various colour channels.
10px border, then image size to 640 using bicubix smoother. change contrast and another minor tweak on hue/sat chanel to finish off.

I would have left the people out of the picture. This is a very interesting structure and the people just don't seem to fit in with it.

The run down - run through theme seems a bit far fetched. The picture seems a bit over-sharpened. Too many details in the picture without a meaning.

The contrast in this photo is gorgeous. However, I think that I would have like this better without the runners.

love the feel of this image. great texture and tone balance. The large man draws my eye. Not sure if tha tis good or bad because I can't see the picture if I try to hide him. :) Well, yes I can, kind of. Image works better and is more visually interesting with the runner. The short one runs like and old man. :) 8, may pass again.

I'm not fond of this picture. It looks more like a bridge underpass and not a building which in my opinion doesn't meet the challenge. Altho the structure is very nice the runners are to distracting to get a feeling for the picture. I do like the B&W conversion tho as I think it adds to the age of the structure. Good luck in this challenge.
