Challenge: Abandoned Buildings (Basic Editing III)

Took this picture on the second Toronto GTG that I went on to the Old Whitby Psychiatric compound. I loved exploring the buildings and my brother in law and I stayed for at least another hour after everyone else had left (long after my camera & flashlight batteries had died and my memory card was full) I’m not 100% happy with any of the pictures I did take, as I think I rushed myself in my eagerness to explore. I also am still kicking myself for ditching my tripod after the first building, as I thought it would be too hard to carry and climb around at the same time. I will definitely go back to some of the better buildings/rooms and retake some shots. I wanted this particular picture to convey creepy. Had this been an advanced editing challenge I would have darkened the door opening and touched up the glass that was blown by the sunlight. The unusual picture size I couldn’t do anything about as the window was tall and skinny and the door boring black.

This is pretty good. It took a little while to notice that you shot this thru a window. I might have stepped back just a touch to emphasize the broken glass as a frame. Compositionally, this is good.

too much going on, when i first looked at it it looked like it was upside down. i think if the camera was inside the broken glass it might look better.

Interesting angle - from the thumbnail, it almost looked upside down!

Excellent composition. I also like the light and shadow on the floor and crumbling roof.
