Challenge: Abandoned Buildings (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Canon EOS-300D Rebel
Location: Erie, Colorado
Date: Apr 7, 2005
Aperture: f8
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/200
Date Uploaded: Apr 12, 2005

I've driven by this building on an abandoned farm several times in the past couple months and I finally decided to stop and check it out. Because the back wall had collapsed, you could see thru the windows to the other farm buildings beyond. I decided to focus on what was framed by the window rather than the window itself.

In photoshop, I followed my normal workflow of levels, curves, slight color balance, and slight hue/saturation. Photo was also cropped.

Nice idea, focus is too soft though on the left side of the window. I would have liked everything in sharp focus on this better.

Good use of reflection, It would be great if the wall of the building was a bit sharper, I like it anyway.

Good concept. My only suggestion would be tobring the window into focus a bit more. I find it's just a bit too much off and distracts the eye.

The picture through the window is sharp and exposed well, but the wall is overexposed a little too much - it seems to detract from the focal point of the pic.

With the foreground being so OoF I makes it very hard to see what it was focusing on in the background. A great technique but in this shot it didn't work out. Perhaps a tripod would have made the difference if one wasn't used. It may have also looked better if it was centered. Good luck with this challenge.

I like the way you've framed the buildings. A tighter crop might be even better.
