"Norwegian Wood"
A tree stands alone
on a peaceful winter day,
reaching for the warmth
of the sun's golden rays.
The landscape is as
a canvas in a painter's hand,
with the gentle strokes
of a breeze across the land.
Nature's composition
gathers all around,
creating a sweet portrait
of brilliant color and sound.
The wind softly whistles
through the barren trees,
a blanket of snow covers
the sadness of fallen leaves.
Clouds give way to light
where shadows once stood.
Now all of nature befriends
a lonely Norwegian Wood.

This was taken in Bodø, Norway, which is just above the arctic circle. Unfortunately I didn't get any northern lights ("nordlys" in Norwegian) pictures within the timeframe for this challenge. Oh, well. Post-processing consisted of rotating 90 degrees, cloning out some minor distracting elements in lower left, resizing, and sharpening.

| Nice solid image lacks a little bit of the wow factor but is composed well would have been better with more light on the snow. |
