The person is to dark. You should have used flash to reveal the person.

Ohh mannn, I am fighting over the primary subject_ is it the child or the sunlight on the water? The water is dominent, it wins. A lovely thoughtful image with very nice tonal quality.

I dont think your subject is small enough to be considered minimalism, but it is still a geat shot. I just dont think it will do for this challenge though
