Thanks for all the nice comments, when I spotted this shot I had very little time to perfect it as the yacht was emerging from the mist rapidly, I considered retaining more sea but my final crop really represented my vision so I stuck with it.
Thanks again

This is just such a beautiful picture! I personally think it was worthy of a much higher score and placement (like maybe the score of the commenters) but having a photot like this in your collection can't be bad no matter what the score. |

Arrrrr.... Good placement. I like how you sized the boat relatively small, it does something for the picture. |

I love it. I wish there was a little more contrast between the foggy sky and the pink sails. 8 |

The boat seems ready to drop out of the frame. I would have liked to see a bit more texture in the sky (birds, broken clouds, etc.) |

Impeccable composition - very clever to use that slight drift from the very strong lines of frame to impose a near-invisibility on your subject, and yet maintaining great detail, and wonderful tonality through the frame. It would, i suspect, be a hit as a print. It diesn't actually speak of minimalsim in the srtistic sense, but certainly within our challenge description, it does: the subject is too uncomplicated for the art guys, I would say. |

this is great! i really like the tight crop on the bottom, but i don't think it'd hurt to show just a *little* more of the ocean (maybe a 50% increase) |

I think that if you zoomed in and cropped a lot of the space out it would be more effective while staying on topic. |

Okay .. I'm stumped. I sit here wanting to 'contribute' and comment in some useful way. I can't. Dammit. This is too good and that's that ... *sigh* |

I would like to see more water on the bottom, it seems cut off. Otherwise I really like this. Good luck. |

This image is presented with such lucidity...not the subject but the spirit of the challenge. It is an image I envy because long ago I shot a similar one in Lake george with a rowboat and a yellow sail jacket in the distant fog. Well, you have my congratulations here because the negative space is employed here with a high skill level. My favorite for this challenge. You get the big bump. P.S. this image is so good i am placing it in my fav list right now. |

Obviously meets the challenge no question about that. I like the effect of the fog but at the same time I wish the subject was a little more focused just because it is a little lost in the vastness of the entire image. I think for this challenge I understand why you chose to make the subject so small ΓΆ€“ but I think you could have cropped a bit of the sky out (while still maintaining the off center composition) and you would have still met the challenge while making the subject just that little bit bigger. |

No question that it meets the challenge. It's atmospheric, but my impression is that the boat is just a little too weak a focal point and the haze is just a little too monotonous. |

This is so close to being brilliant - for me, I would have preferred the subject a little higher in the frame. I know that means more (darker) sea but it is too close to the bottom of the frame. |

Beautiful color contrast, and wonderful sharpness on the sailboat. The sharpness is especially nice when placed against the smooth fog. |
