Greetings from the Critique Club...
Hi Buzzmom...
You didn't bother to leave any of your own thoughts on this image, so I won't spend much time with an in-depth critique on it. In a nutshell, your subject is out of focus, which simply doesn't work. |

I would like to see more detail in the diamond. 4 |

What is the spike-looking thing holding the diamond in place? The DOF looks like it's the right width, but it's not centered on the diamond. |

Its sort of hard to make out what the picture is of because of the focus |

Eye does not go towards the subject and the focus does not help the subject matter. |

It seems as though the focus is more on the background as opposed to the subject, which takes away some of the subject's detail. |

is this an outtake from jewelry challenge? The idea is good, but needs a better focus on the subject |

I'm not sure what I'm looking at exactly, which makes things difficult.
Looks like maybe charcoal or something but I don't have any clue what the shiny thing is, or why it would belong there.
So sorry. Feel free to PM me and let me know what it is. I might change my score. |

I would like to see the diamond more in focus here instead of the blur affect on the outside of it. |

The diamond just isn't crisp enough for this composition to have the impact it deserves. |

Is this for the jewelery challenge or the tack challenge? But seriously, I guess by your title that its a diamond, but it is a little confusing what you are trying to portay. Technique, lighting and composition are good. |

Seems like the focal point (diamond) isn't as in focus as the coal (imo). |

Reflections here are more harsh than pretty. This might have worked out better in color. |

i like this picture personally i would have prefered the rocks to be a little sharper and not so much noise in the middle otherwise cool |

This is a nice idea. Personally I'd like it with a bit more contrast. The charcoal seems a bit too gray. |

diamond doesn't seem to be in focus. And the hole in the middle of the charcoal pieces is disconcerting. If feels like the diamond is going to fall and will be lost. |
