I like the texture on this, makes it relate to the title. Could use a little contrast boost |

The hotspot in the top corners are a bit distracting. The DOF seems a bit too narrow.

a low contrast (no blacks) a bit too confined |

Pretty statue with interesting eyes. The blurry background adds grace to the image, but the light area of her hair is a bit distracting. Nice image though.

Great DOF and texture. The B&W works very well for this shot. But you may get hammered a bit on not fitting the challenge. Statues don't have moods. As for my vote. The statue portays emotion very well the artist manages to convey emotions through the sculpture often better than many people can naturaly. Nice job |

I just don't read any real mood or emotion from this. It seems hurried and there's no supporting elements to really sell the expressiveness that this sculpture is capable of. |

The black dots on the statue are distracting... It's a nice photo of a statue, but it doesn't really convey purety or holiness or motherly love because of the black dots. (6) |

A beauty! I hope the DPC voters welcome this out of the box entry. I can hear the literalists commenting, "statues don't have emotions!" Ignore those voices and enjoy the quiet contemplative mood you've captured here. All the best. |

Although I don̢۪t say this is a bad picture I have scored this low.
Low in my book is not extremely low, but I guess there will be other people thinking the same way I do who don̢۪t leave a comment.
Don̢۪t take this the wrong way, this is my own opinion, and I am trying to let you understand what some voters may think.
In my opinion this does not meet the challenge, the description of the challenge: Take a picture that captures an emotion.
I looked hard, but I don̢۪t see an emotion. This could be my fault, but that̢۪s the reason why I voted lower as I would normaly do.

Very strong, I like it. A few things, I would of cropped out the bright top of the head or waited for better lighting, Although it is granite the contrast between the two colours is over powering, I would soften it, which would add to the contemplative nature of the photo. As an artistic touch with DOF, I would have more in focus in the back ground less in the fore ground. 8 |
