Challenge: Moods (Advanced Editing IV)
Camera: Canon EOS-350D Rebel XT
Location: Stone Mountain Park (stonemountainpark.com)

Aperture: f5.6

Taken at about 6:45am overlooking Atlanta from Stone Mountain Park (www.stonemountainpark.com). Stone Mtn. is the largest granite outcropping in the world and towers 1,683 feet above sea level. I metered just lateral to the sun and then bracketed my exposure many times above and below the suggested reading. I did this because the hike up the mountain before dawn wasn't fun. The fog was so bad at times that I could not see 4 or 5 feet in front of me, but once I hiked above the fog all was clear.

This one probably get voted down pretty bad because people will think it does not meet the contest.

But I really like it, and it says mood to me.

Lots of blur. Sharper focus may have served this shot better?

I am totally in love with sunset photos :-) This one has some great colors. I wonder if the depth of field was set to focus on the small stream, how that would change the mood of this shot. I love the mist and clouds rolling over the hills.

I find the grass in the foreground distracting. Sometimes objects in the foreground add context and give greater significance to the focal point, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.

The softness is a little distracting, although i know you meant it to set the modd. I like the horizon, perhaps more distant landscape and not so much in the foreground.

better focus weeds !

The morning, never new Atlanta could be so pretty. The colours of the sunrise are soft and inviting. A few things I would change, and all of them are in the foreground of the photo. The grass, for me detracts due it being an out of focus silhouette. The land grass really steals from this photo and makes it look like the subject. The water is a secondary destruction and also draws away from the focus, plus it is not reflecting enough of the light from the sunrise. Then the land below is in focus, but does not seem to be capturing any of the mood from the sun. I hope you also captured a photo from the land forward to the sunrise as well. 5

Not exactly the "mood" I'm looking for in this challenge. Also, this shot would benefit greatly from a landscape orientation, cropping out the bottom bit of water, halfway through that barrier there, and then a little above the one bit of grass..

but that's just me.

beautiful colour but I find the out of focus foreground a bit distracting

I'm having trouble finding a part of the photo that is in focus.

Nothing here is sharp. Some nice colours though.

this is too blurry and the foreground is a bit distracting...maybe a crop would help?

Beautiful colors and shots. Trying to evote emotion in the viewer perhaps?

Very pretty. I would crop out the bottom though, its very blurry and doesn't add to the photo at all. 6

the foreground is too much out of focus; plus, not for this challenge

Although I don̢۪t say this is a bad picture I have scored this low.
Low in my book is not extremely low, but I guess there will be other people thinking the same way I do who don̢۪t leave a comment.
Don̢۪t take this the wrong way, this is my own opinion, and I am trying to let you understand what some voters may think.

In my opinion this does not meet the challenge, the description of the challenge: Take a picture that captures an emotion.
I looked hard, but I don̢۪t see an emotion. This could be my fault, but that̢۪s the reason why I voted lower as I would normaly do.

I like the cloud cover, but the foreground plants are distracting to me.
