Hovenweep is a "castle" built by native Americans hundreds of years ago. It was built around 1200 AD and abandoned about 100 years later. It was a central location for commerce and/or religious significances for native americans for hundreds of miles around it. Approximately 2500 people lived near here in its heyday.
