Challenge: Moods (Advanced Editing IV)
Camera: Fujifilm FinePix A340 Zoom
Location: dining room
Date: Apr 30, 2005
Aperture: f4.2
ISO: 100
Shutter: 0.5 sec
Date Uploaded: May 1, 2005

My husband taken while he was watching the news, but I liked this expression; he was sort of oblivious to the camera..it was in color, but the darn flash didn't go off so it came out very orange; I kind of liked the orange tone but figured it would get me in big trouble in the contest. I desaturated, sharpened with unsharp mask, did some adjustment to highlights and cloned out the background fireplace.

This was too soft in focus to submit and ..I have learned from this; I tried to make it look like a painting but it appears to not have worked at all.

Placement of subject is good. Lighting looks fine to me. However, the image looks blurry and indistinct. Perhaps it is a pixel issue rather than a moving camera issue. I like the arm in the shot, but the top of the head is cut off, which is a bit distracting to me.

Love the composition, however very unsatisfied with the focus. The crop works well. Goodluck.

Not very clear. Was this supposed to be this way?

I don't know if it is intentional, but I like the weird over-sharpened smudgy effect.

Something about this looks odd; almost like the focus was soft in the original and it was later sharpened. I'd prefer to see more of either his eyes or his mouth; without those, faces lose a lot of emotion.

Like this. If focus was sharper it would be better for me. 9

I bet your getting hammered with OOF comments. Personaly I like the look you acheived it looks more like a graphite scetch than a photo. Theres a very unique feel to this photo. My only complaint would be that I would lie to have seen it with a little more light. Great job!!

Its not in focus, and the pose is weard!

looks like a painting - I like that you left the watch in the scene - it carries almost equal weight as the face - perhaps he is brooding about time passing or something approaching in the future.

Too dark and needs greater focus to bring out more detail. Good title and composition though.

very good capture, a little blurry and his look is a little too away from the camera

His pose is very good, natural looking. However that being said the shot is not in focus. Now you may have done this for a reason,,,? Still I think it takes away from the quaility. The shot fits the challenge.

Poor focus hurts this otherwise fine capture.

Nice, appears to be too soft to me though, or the focus was off. Not sure as I'm looking at this on a different computer than normal.
