The lighting is harsh from the on camera flash. I guess i am not too big of a fan of pet pictures in general, perhaps a window light would have been more effective.

Background really doesn't look good, and onboard flash has resulted in very harsh light with unappealing shadows.

Excellent focus...one of the best of the dog shots.

great expression, but you may want to get him outside or someplace with enough light to shoot without the flash, or you could try shooting with bounced flash and slow down (drag) the shutter

For an animal which is not supposed to have any change of expression you have done a pretty good job of capturing one here

Although I don̢۪t say this is a bad picture I have scored this low.
Low in my book is not extremely low, but I guess there will be other people thinking the same way I do who don̢۪t leave a comment.
Don̢۪t take this the wrong way, this is my own opinion, and I am trying to let you understand what some voters may think.

In my opinion this does not meet the challenge, the description of the challenge: Take a picture that captures an emotion.
I looked hard, but I don̢۪t see an emotion. This could be my fault, but that̢۪s the reason why I voted lower as I would normaly do.

Nice picture but the flash light is bothering. A soft light could be perfect.

Love the face, just a tad harsh on the lighting though.

This fits the challenge in my mind but I'm not fond of the lighting. Too strong. On my monitor your dog looks a bit blue? Of course that could just be me so take it with a grain of salt. :)
