Greetings fromt the Critique Club
Hi darren!
Composition
I like the blue on blue idea. You chose a great place to photograph. I would have stepped forward/zoomed so that the blue waste can was the leftmost thing in the shot and the rightmost awning was the most right thing in the shot. Compose it like that, with the blue sky above - seems to be a tighter shot, and since you would be closer, you'd have bigger awnings and thus more blue.
Color
I love the choice of blues - I'm glad you didn't choose the brightest colors available - this is a nicer choice and it definitely works with blue on blue.
Focus
Excellent focus and DOF for this shot.
Lighting
Because of the bright blue sky effect you were going for, the lighting is about exactly what it needed to be. Excellent capture here.
Subject matter
The awnings work as a taste of blue in this shot. This is an interesting looking building and the colors make it a pretty nice shot to look at.
Overall
I don't understand your final score except for the composition. I think people don't look hard enough at certain pics. I saw the blue, I like the blue...good shot. Good luck in the future!

This picture needs to be squared up to the horizon. I like the idea that you have a person in there, but I think a little more interesting subject would've been better. Maybe a lady walking her dog or something. Anyway, the colors of the sky are great and the building is pretty interesting. |

This is a very neat shot. I like the colors in the awnings and sky matching (almost). I wish this sot was a little more level and tighter on the buildings. Did you try other croppings for effect? Good luck. |

The blue roofs? I think it's far too subtle and distant. |

I think this picture could have been cropped a little differently. I would have cut out the back part of the building that's uncolorful and boring. Maybe size the picture as a portrait with the bottom part being the front part of the building with the trees at the sides and the sky at the top. Then working with contrast and lighting. I feel as if this picture was taken directly out of the camera with no post work. Good choice of subject...just not used to it's potential. |

Excellent mixture of blues. Sky, marquees and drum on the beach, good capture! |

beautiful sky and i love how it matches the building awnings and the can in the foreground. i think getting a little closer to the building would have made this a more powerful image, though. also, don't forget to check your horizon when taking a photo. a nice, straight horizon always helps (unless it's obviously suppose to be tilted). |

Blue skies enhance the white of the buildings, which, because it is full of interesting angles, lines and details is the real subject of your photo. |

Nice image, but not much range of color. It just sort of looks like a regular photo to me. Good quality too. |

It's tilted, which spoils it a bit. Nice sky colour. |

Could be straighter, but nice. |

as soon as I read the title, I started singing U2. ;) composition (I hope I'm using the right terms here) is a bit tilted, but I like the repetition of the blue in the garbage bin, and the awnings and then finally the sky. |
