Hi. Flowers always make for good photos and in my opinion is a subject that will always score higher than usual if done well, so you were on the right track choosing a flower as your color entry subject. And you have done it well!
Using the sky as a background was a good choice, and as I mentioned in my comment below, the background highlights the red of the rose more intensely. You mention that the rose is pink in your title and description, however I don't see any pink in it, it is red to me, but that might also be my monitor.
Everything is sharp and fully in focus, I don't think blurring the background would have made much of a difference. However, as was commented below, I think some water drops on the flower and leaves might have given this image a little more impact.
All in all, a very good pic with strong and vivid colors, congratulations.

| Nice colors. I think there may be too many elements in this picture, especially the leaves. And your DOF is so good, that it makes the clouds in focus which is distracting from the flower. |

| good subject and composition, but seems like a poor choice of time of day. The light is really harsh and very high - giving you a lot of harsh shadows. Some reflected fill might have smoothed that out, or using your flash maybe ? |

| Nice shot but for your ability I think you could have given us more. Your expertise shows, why not use it. The pic. needs more design to help it out some but very well centered and shading is great too. Good work but I know you have more to offer, just from this pic. Go for it. |
