I think lighting was an issue on this picture. It meet the challenge with no problem and is a good picture. It seems to have only a light source coming from the left seeing the angle of shadow on the stars. I think the picture would of been great with another light source because it would of limited the noise throughout the picture and also blocked some of the shadows. With that said what a great shot and a tribute to our fallen hero's either during war or after service. That triangle means a lot to so many. I think a mood should be set on a picture like this. Maybe b&w or a duotone. If you ever get the chance to re-shot this picture IMO it would be well worth it. Make sure you have enough lighting to limit noise and experiment with mood tones. And if the owner of the Triangle don't mind you may want to set it on the table with a dark base and background so that the wood on the wall will not compete with the frame. If you do re-shot this picture, please let me know I would love to see it. |

I scored this a ten. Only one I see. Here is my reason why: First, I am not an American. Despise quite a bit about what their government does. My initial reaction to such things is 1. Political statements are so very boring. Even if it is Chilean rebelling against Pinochet in those days. I was at a friends house who received a phone call that his past lover in Chile was bayoneted in the stomach a few hours earlier and had died. He was distraught, it was a long night, but out of that night came a very interesting conversation.
The family had worked on the family, and had not spent a dime on its comforts. The wall in this image is of, in my mind, the cheap fake wood panel you put up, no less then other families, not because you cannot buy better, but because that money can be better used for the family. For all this family has done, they have a flag, in a triangle on a wall. Courtesy of an ideal. My children will never suffer this. Although they maybe the cause. |

No doubt this photo probably has personal meaning to you, but I don't consider it a good photo. The colors are too dark. The stars should stick out against a blue background. The hook is off center. Also, it's not your fault but the stars should line up better. I think you could make it better by changing the location of the flag to a lighter background and putting some photos of the loved one in the background. I gave it a 5. |

The abundance of wood in this photo doesn't work for me. Perhaps a shot pulled back to include more of the surroundings (and surrounding color)? |

Some would not find this emotionally engaging, but I feel that it is a very powerful statement made in a simple, elegant way. |

Very dark photo to me. Also feels a little over-saturated. The stars look like they've bee lit by a black light. This would have had more visual and emotional impact if the flag case were held by a family member. |
