Not exactly sure how well this will go over, though technically it is the outside of the flower looking to the inside of it. Time will tell.

Hello from the Critique Club!

Composition:
You have the flower centered to show its insides thus the challenge, perhaps an offset or grouping would add interest.

Background/Foreground:
The background is very distracting to me. It definately diminishes the beauty and color of the flower.

Camera Work:
I see you had the aperture down to 7.1. This DoF could have caused the background to be more prominent than it could have been at full-open. It seems that the light was quite harsh, possibly midday. a diffuser or even a hand might have shielded that harsh white sun.

Post-processing:
You didnt mention what you did in post. This would really help in the future. I see you shot in RAW and your website indicates you have a familiarity with Photoshop. Based on this I think you could have made adjustments to the whitebalance, levels, curves, and saturation to bring out those buried yellows.

My opinion:
I think the flower is beautiful and with a different/toned down background and some PS work it would make a nice addition to the wall

Thank you for allowing me to critique your photograph, we learn from each photo we take. I hope you will find my comments helpful. If you have any questions please PM me.

Regards,

Vince Doss

Green looks very sickly, and saturation seems very dull in general. Quality of light is a tad harsh. Composition seems unimaginative.
