 Taken from the top of a Resevoir mountain in South Kamloops.. it's me holding my Fuji Finepix s7000. I tell you, the sunsets you get from this spot are *STUNNING*.

Here are the comments I expect:

"looks like there's too much dodging in the sky" - No, those are actually clouds.. I didn't dodge or burn at *all*.. just some color balancing to bring out the reds and oranges.

"The sun is giving off a strong vertical light flare". Well duh.

"The silhouette of the person is hidden too much by the clouds" Yah, I know.. I don't like this either, but there's not much I can do aboot it.. I wish I had a chance to reshoot, but weather didn't co-operate

"I recognize this silhouette.. that's you isn't it Arty? I hate you. 1." This is my conspiracy theory as to why my entries tend to do lousy ;) (stupid Moods blew that all to hell though).

Anyway, I expect this to do a 6.0 - 6.2

Processing = USM, levels, Color Balancing and crop and resizing. Oh, and some tiny cloning for sensor dust.

I probably should add that it's a pretty damn good photo even sans-seagulls.

Hehe... yep - if you'd managed to coax a couple of seagulls into the frame rather than that big oaf of a photographer this would have been 7 + :).

Well.. sometimes one's predictions are almost spot on. Usually I'm not this good. lol. Of course, most of the comments I predicted didn't materialize.

Yah, I went the subtle route. I thought people might be inspired by this simple, reflective image.. instead of something out there, or crazy. I guess it can't be a photographer.. it has to be birds, in order to work that way. Also, I'm noticing that people seem to like yellow/gold a lot..

This is really nice. I like how your subject fades into the bottom dark area of the photo. You've done a nice job framing this, the sunset and subject are balanced well.

There you are, and here I am screaming, "Stop thinking and get your finger on the shutter button!" The only problem I feel here is with the composition - the space above the head takes away from the strong line running from the head to the sun. A much tighter crop would really have brought that out. Otherwise a lovely shot. 7

great sky. not sure what the subject is doing - hand looks funny. maybe too much contrast in background - competes with foreground too much, and has better focus/sharpening.
