Please see: this version -- gosh I wish I would've discovered Neat Image sooner!!

Taken as a quick snap shot (through a not-so-clean window, BTW) of the Mississippi River from a moving car at 65 m.p.h. on I 270 between St. Louis and Illinois. I cropped the photo, adjusted the contrast & brightness and messed with the hue/saturation a few degrees and sharpened it slightly. Voila. A work I am fairly proud of to be my first challenge entry. I personally really like the muted sort of hazy feel of the photo, it feels a little Olde World (to match the feel of the towers).

I have to mention that my original intent was to capture the old buildings in the water (old water intake towers) and that those 2 buildings were my original subjects. The architecture of the buildings is incredible.

Concept: Bridge Sil. Works for challenge, but is hurt by composition.
Composition: Bridge is at top area, emphasizing the water and the top of the bridge is cut off, further lowering its importance. The castles and support structure then become the focus and these are not sil.
Colors: Seem very washed out, hazy giving a snapshot feel to this image.

Nice picture, I am afraid that this may not do well as the scene is not in deep silhouette.

Image is extremely grainy and appears out of focus. It may not appeal to most DPC voters. Good Luck.

Where's the silhouette?

A bit of noise that is distracting, and the crop at the top seems a bit tight.

There is no contrast in the colors, everything looks faded.

Interesting shot, but there is too much visible detail for me to be able to call this a silhouette.

I can see to many details on this one to say its a true silhouette. Perhaps if the entire image was a bit darker it would work for me. I also feel that the colors are a bit drab and monotone. I would like to have seen a bit more vibrant colors to help this one pop a bit more. This is a great start and I feel that with a little time in photoshop. This could have been up there running with the high scoring ones.

I don't think this really meets the challenge.

As your main focus here is not backlit, I'd have to say, not really a silhouette.

Too much detail, meter the backround, increase two stops and try it again.

This is a good shot. It is hard to pick out the subject though and is a bit noisy, the over all effect loses its balance, although the pillar does draw the eye. Different lighting, perhaps more toward the evening. 5

There is no silhouette in this photograph, I can clearly see everything.
