Tristalisk:
Thank you for your comment (i've been waiting for a critique from DPC critique club for ages!).
Although i'm thrilled by your critique, i feel you have been way too kind :)
I realize there are some flaws, namely composition and bg lighting. Then again, I took this shot in extremely adverse conditions: 2 paper sheets (from my printer) placed on the ground outside (so I could have direct sun light - couldnt get rid of the shadows, no matter what angle) on a somewhat windy day! LOL
By the way, the straw was inittialy yellow (a vomit kind of yellow) and later turned green, by changing the hue on the yellow channel. The black spot near the straw is a bit of dirt (or maybe some pooh from the ants passing by) that glued to the already wet paper (I would have obviously removed it if it werent for the basic rules)...
Once again, thank you for your time.
M.

Greetings from the Critique Club!!!
Initial imapact: Yummy crunchy apple.....
Color: Wonderfull colors. You have captured the colors of the apple perfectly. It has a very crisp and cold texture and look to it. Initialy I didn't like the green straw but after a few seconds it seemd apropriate. Giving it a somewhat stem like appearance.
Focus: Very crisp ans well defined focus. I love the way the DOF fades hust the slightest amount on the top of the apple slightly bluring the back of the apple. Thsi adds a lot to the texture and pepth of the photo. Great job in this catagory.
Lighting: This is where I feel this shot is lacking a little bit. I think this would have been a lot more powerfull image if it had been lit in a manner to eliminate shaddow. I never ahve been fond of shadows on a white background. More persomal tastle the technical I would imaging.
Meeting the challenge: Theres and apple... can't realy go wrong there.
Composition: The crack? on the table in the apples shadow and the spot next to the stem are both very distracting and un apealling to the image. I would like to see them remioved. Beyond that and the shadow I realy have zero complaints.
Conclusion: This is a very strong and well composed image. I feel that the technical flaws in this phot are very small and easily fixed. This is a photo that no one would be ashamed to have in there portfolio. Very nice job keep up the great work.

Cool idea. The straw being in focus would give this picture more push, plus there seems to be some glare on the straw. 8 |
