Ok, two things first:
1. This is actually a Red Delicious apple, not a macintosh, but Darth MacIntosh sounded funnier (and made more sense, than Darth Delicious...actually, I like Darth Delicious a lot, but it's just not as recognizable as an apple name).
2. No, this isn't a commentary on Apple Computers being evil or dark or the father of what eventually destroyed them.

Ok, down to business...this was my last idea, and the one I felt was the most fun. I looked up some pictures of old Darth MacVader, then I carved the apple accordingly. It's on a piece of curved poster board, lit with a few tungsten lights. I had to spray the apple with lots of lemon juice to keep it from turning brown, and no, I didn't eat the apple afterwards...too freaky.

Post processing involved BradP's action for USM, levels and curves to get a nice white background and bright apple, hue/saturation adjustments to get the apple flesh right, a slight crop, resize, another USM, and a save-for-web.

That's it. Let's see how this one goes.

interesting shot. but a low key lighting would be the best. use a black background and light up the face with the lighting u use to light the background. and you would have a good shot

Dude (or dudette), you got way too much time on your hands :o)

Anyway, nice work with the carving in the apple and lighting the shot, only minimal glare on it. Only this isn´t a very exciting photograph, you should have made a tiny toothpick lightsaber and painted it red or something :o)

Anyway, made me smile and good lighitng, gave you 7 for it.

Timely and well executed. Influenced by the dark side though so I'm going to have to mark you down or the balance of the universe will be upset.
Just kidding:)) 8

Very current-affairs-ish. LOL. I would never have thought to do something like this! You have definitely made this apple your own.

(Excellent carving skills by the way)
