Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: Lighting II (Advanced Editing IV)
Camera: Canon EOS-350D Rebel XT
Lens: Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO Macro Super for Canon
Location: Mount Hamilton Road, near San Jose, CA
Date: May 18, 2005
Aperture: 5.0
ISO: 400
Shutter: 1/320 sec.
Galleries: Landscape
Date Uploaded: May 21, 2005

Lens was fully open to 300mm, which introduced a bit of blur at 1/320. Fortunately, when shrinking down to 640 wide, the problem mostly cleared itself up - though the house is still not as sharp as it ought to be. USM nonetheless works wonders.

So cool. Such great expanse and what a lovely reward for the eyes. Congratulations on your top 20 finish.

Return for comment. Wonderful composition and fantastic lighting. A top 10 finish is almost guaranteed. One of my top picks anyway, final bump up!

Exactly where is Mount Hamilton? This is an awesone photo. I like how it captures the sunset/rise and shows shadows of clouds on the ground.

Spectacular lighting, under-represented by either an OOF subject or a sub 3MP camera. What a shame this isn't crisp and deep. Beautiful scene. 7.

This was a hard assignment and you did it just right. A scenic in which light is one of the key subjects. And beautiful too. Good one.

This is really nice the way the light shines on your subject. I love the scene.

Gorgeous landscape with an outstanding use of lighting to bring attention to your main subject. My only critique would be that the building would look better without the power lines directly behind it, but other than that small point, this is a beautiful image. Really nice job!

VERY nice light capture, marred by lack of visual acuity. A great mood. The colors seem shifted to a dull cyan/green tint, a little work with selective color might have done wonders.

This is beautiful, though I wish the building were in slightly better focus, seems a bit soft there, still very nice.
