This shot was taken through a microscope at approximately 30X magnification. The subject is a hungry fire ant trying his best to maneuver a grain of raw sugar back to his nest. You've heard the phrase "Trying to herd cats"? Try getting a fire ant to stand still under a microscope for a shot.

Post production included cropping, sharpening, and brightening.

I like it! Very neat shot, but I'm sad that your camera was unable to produce a crisp image at that magnification.

Great macro close-up. I never knew what a grain of sugar looked like so close. From the ant perspective, I can see why they like it so much. It's pure beauty.
