Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: Lighting II (Advanced Editing IV)
Camera: Canon EOS-20D
Lens: Canon EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 IS USM
Location: Salt Lake City, UT
Date: May 19, 2005
Aperture: f/5.0
ISO: 1600
Shutter: 1/100
Galleries: Portraiture, Studio
Date Uploaded: May 22, 2005

The plan was to let each of several of us photographers work with this model, but I never got a chance to do so. So instead of having the benefit of the use of the strobes that were in the studio, I shot this at ISO 1600 and used just the modeling lights!!!

I gotta say this, ISO 1600 on the Canon 20D rocks!

- Converted from raw
- Increased contrast
- Used history brush to bring back detail in eyes
- Reduced saturation in whites of eyes (too much red in her left eye), then lightened the whites a couple of notches
- applied a softening filter to reduce but not eliminate texture in the skin
- reduced size for dpc
- sharpened
- added white border

The title doesn't add much to the image, there are a couple of white spots in her hair that are distracting, and the image as a whole feels neatimaged. I'm also distracted by the difference in color cast between the hand (which feels a cooler pinkish) and the face, which has a warmer glow. 6

pretty girl, she has lovely skin. I would have like to see the catch light in the eyes. Without it the subject does not feel as alive.

I'm unfortunately not fond of the photo at all. I find the subject lacks interest and the photo is either blurry at the top(hair) or the reflection of light on he hair gives it a blurry look. I'm also not fond of the eye make-up or what appears to be an ear ring (or collar) on the right beside her cheek. Good luck in this challenge.

I personally don't like the shadow of her nose over her mouth.
But it's a nice clear, crisp image otherwise.

Good lighting although I might have tried to bring the side light out and down a bit to keep the nose shadow off her lips. Good Luck
