 I put some granules of sugar in a blue, glazed ceramic coaster with a crackle finish. Took shot directly overhead. Used available light.

Great background treatment! A lot of other people neglected to find some backdrop to complement the subject. The right side of the image looses some of the richer blue tones, however, and becomes "muddy" looking.

I really like the crystals of sugar, but the background is very distracting. Would have loved to see this with a non textured background. There also seems to be a "film" covering the right half of the photo.

LOVE the background. It makes the sugar crystals look as if they're floating in space. The red on the upper right must be the light from another galaxy!! Very nice shot.

You picked up some really nice detail in focus. Good. Not sure about the background. A dark one was needed, but maybe not with texture.

The background looks like blue gorilla skin and there's a weird glow/reflection on the right side... best capture I've seen yet of individual grains of sugar, though
