Nice subject, but the colors seem muted to me and the soft focus on the flower as a whole isn't working well for me. good luck in the challenge. |

Beautiful abstract floral study with wonderful colours and shapes. Love the softness of the shallow DOF. |

Beauty is a subjective thing, I know. In my scoring and comments I'm trying to score based on NOT whether or not I would think a particular subject beautiful, but on whether the photographer has succeeded in creating a beautiful photo. I look for the elements of color, lines, focus and dof interest, lighting, and a certain element of grace and lovlieness. I'm looking for a unique and creative appeal for the highest scorers. (This is what I'm putting at the start of all of my comments, and I hope it is helpful.)
That being said, this is really pretty. I like the yellow and peach tones. I think what I like best is the curves and diagonal lines of the flower's center. Great dof and focus. I like this one alot.

At first I thought "nah" but before I finished my voting the picture started to catch my eye better. The lines are great and it is a very artistic view of a flower. What really changed my voting was that I would love this one on my wall;-) There is more in this one than one expects right away. It is sad that usually we vote fast because we have to vote on many pictures because this one needs time. Good luck with it. |

The butter soft colors and shallow DOF of this photo are beautiful.
I would like to see a stronger light on the pollen, the DOF makes them almost blend in to the background and breings the dark colors on the stamen more predominate. and makes them look burnt on my monitor. If the soft pinks and yellows of this were brightened up to bring them foreward I think this would score a lot higher.
