Wow! You're a photographer that both inspires and depresses me:)) You inspire me because your images move me and I want to do what you do. You depress me because I'll never come close to doing what you do - you have real vision...

I am ashamed to admit that my creepy doll picture (115825) beat yours numerically, but yours has a level of gravitas that mine could only aspire to! Keep up the good work.

I think with the amount of comments you got Joey you have made a lot of people, stop and think. That's says something in it's self. Keep up the good work :-)

Joey, you're a genius:
1.Someone who is dazzlingly skilled in any field
2.Exceptional creative ability
Thanks for sharing your pictures with us. It's such a rare privilege to watch someone communicate their vision so clearly and daringly.

There will always be an audience for things that make people think. But as you'd know, that's the minority. You are presenting your thoughts and you are doing it well. To me, your images are worth a lot.

This doesn't make me say "That's beautiful," even in a sad bittersweet sort of way. It actually kind of disturbs me; however, I do think this shot has a place in a different challenge.

Very original take on the challenge, has a lot of shock value. A little underexposed in parts and a lot of things are hard to discern so you'll lose some points on the technical side, converesely, the underexposure in parts helps create an eerie, dark mood.

Beauty is very subjective, especially when voting in accordance to the challenge description. Good luck with this one.

I suppose beauty is different for everyone...but this is kind of "out there".

This is just a very striking image....beautiful? hmm....well in ways yes...more like anti-beautiful....the lack of apparent beauty perhaps is the message but one can find beauty in most everything if you open your mind to it. But it all does not matter in the long run. There is some much to see in this and it tells a story which not be considered beautiful either...but it says something. I hope to figure out what. Great work....hope you're not getting too bashed for not meeting the challenge.

What about this image is beautiful? Distrurbing yes.... Dark yes... beautiful, I just don't see it. So in my opinion it doesn't meet the challenge. As for the photo standing alone. It is interesting and causes you to look for a while to try to understand everything that is happening in the photo. This one makes you think and that is a good thing.

Gotta be Joey for the dark gothic look. A little too disturbing for my taste because of the doll and "stuff" on the paper, but I think you probably knew that before you submitted. You probably could have scored very well with the same model in a less depressing environment.

Kina creepy, kinda goth...great haunting shot without resorting to "cheese." Nicely done.

IMO, I don't think it is beautiful.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I don't really care for this dark shot. The doll is creeping me out and I don't really care the underexposure look. Just my opinion though!

why beauty, I am concerned if this is what you see as beautiful, the photo is well taken but for me not for this challenge

Can't really make out what you're trying to say in this photo. It doesn't strike me as something beautiful. To me this photo speaks of despair, drugs, totally lost in....? 3.

I would have this sharper - would want to feel the grain in the particulate matter, fell the roughness of it all. You provoke interesting thoughts about the blance of beauty, about the desperate measures our world prompts in some people in it's pusuit or denial, and I am of course happy to accept your decisions in your photograph.

I truely fail to see any "beauty" in this image. There are a lot of words, such has tragedy or dispair, but certainly not "beauty". <3>

...whoa. Creepy. It feels a little too dark (the lighting I mean. The subject certainly is), though. I kind of find it hard to see the beauty in this. That is to say, I don't see any and I don't have the volition to bullshit myself and see something that, for all I can tell, isn't there and perhaps wasn't intended to be there. The title hints that the beautiful thing is love, but this is a twisted and sick love.

All that said, I commend you for your ability to create shots that "kick you in the gut" like this one does.

If this is your idea of beauty, I am sad for you. If you entered it to provoke comments, I am sure it will succeed. Good luck to you.

This really pops out for me. I admire it intensely because it takes something uncompromisingly squalid and gritty and creates from it an image of tormented (and tormenting) beauty. I'd be astonished if this does wellint he challenge, but it gets a 10 from me.

Creepy -- has that Hunter S. Thompson meets Sid & Nancy look about it. It's definitely evococative, but rings of despair, not love.

Very bizarre choice for "beauty" in my opinion, though beauty is in the eye of the beholder so to each his own, I do like the lighting in this shot.
