No, the owl isn't real. This dissapoints me again. People rated it down because they assume that it has to be a living animal. It did not say in the challenge rules that it had to be living.
Thank you for thoes of you that made actual comments that are helpful. Not stuff like "w/ real effort you could have found a real owl," or "Ummm, I don't think the challenge met fake animals. Major points off for that, however above that, the "owl" is well lit in this picture and it's nicely focused." But I'm glad that you did comment instead of just rating it.
I dislike how people just assume what they think the challenge means witout really reading it. I guess there is no way around that though. |

I didn't like the flattening effect of the flash when I saw the thumbnail, but on second thought the flatness is one of the charms of this photo. It would be interesting to see it made into a kind of semi-abstract art piece. The owl's expression is really neat too. |

Very clear photo of a decoy owl. (Cropped the base - did it look even less natural?) A bit of a flash shadow, might want to watch that. 6 Rob the Swash |

good shot, but i think its a bit to much flash. i mean its not over exposed, but i think the picture would be much more better if it would be a bit darker, to give the right mood of the night |

Excellent shot, everything is full in focus and crisp. Those oranges are amazing and the whole color coordination here just works! |

Poor thing must have been blind for days after that flash: good job they use their ears more than their eyes. No wonder it looks surprised. |

And he didn't even blink! A self-satisfied look.
