I live on 13 wooded Acers in Michigan. I find a lot of cool stuff to photograph right out my back door. This is a Michigan Garter Snake, I counted as many as 15 around the hole in the ground. I have to watch my own back while out with these things... They are sneaky....lol

clean and crisp... nicely focused.. just might be a touch bright

I'm not the biggest lover of snakes, reptilian or otherwise, but this one I really liked, the lighting was spot on, like a bright sunny day without too letting any of the shadows get in the way, and a nice shallow DOF to keep the attention focussed on the snakes head, and not the leaves and twigs it was moving about in. 9

Very focused. You've formed a leading line into the center of the pic using your main subject, very well done!

lighting is just a little bright or over exposed in spots-nice capture of the snake's head and I like the angle.

Nice macro but lots of "noise" in the background.

Beautiful close-up. Great lighting. I love his environment with the front leaf has nice detail and those in the back are blurred and hinted at. The curve of the snake makes for a nice composition and the curve shape is echoed in several of the leaves. Good colors. 8 Journey

the filtered sunlight really adds to this pic and he's in his natural habitat a 10!

Hmm...up close and personal! Nicely focused. Good detail and depth. Maybe just a little too bright on the back of his head. Good luck in the challenge.
