I decided to have a bit of fun with this challenge. Hopefully people enjoy playing with Lego as much as I once did. I always thought there was a simple elegance to their designs, which I have tried to convey here.

It isn't widely known that the Lego people were originally constructed by a poor carpenter by the name of Ole Kirk Cristiansen. They helped him construct the tools his company needed so they could make ironing boards. Ole got the idea from reading Pinnochio as a child. He didn't want to have to worry about the noses growing, so he decided not to give them any! He soon found out that children loved playing with them, and that he could make more money selling these little guys than making ironing boards. Thus the Lego company was founded. The name 'Lego' was chosen because it was latin for 'I construct' - a throwback to the yellow tribes' original purpose of building Ole's tools. True Story!

I love this image. It is simple, meets the challenge spot on.. and is very well taken.

I'm not sure how effective a polymer jach hammer will be when trying to break open the surface of a heat-treated claw hammer :-)

To me, shots of 'toys' are usually not very appealing. However, this photo I think is executed brilliantly. Technically, lighting, focus etc. - great. The composition is wonderful, uncluttered, purposeful, pleasing to view. The pose and 'expression' on the toy are great. Oh, did you get a model release? hehehe. I like the black background, it really works well here. I think what really ties the whole thing together and makes it really work for me is of course, the hammer. Very refreshing, I quite like the photo. Very nice job.

very crisp and well composed. not sure about the shadow over the face, though it adds dynamic to it. good luck /7

I love this picture. I give it a ten just because it is whimsical, creative and the quality of the image is also very good.

This is a very cute picture. However, since it is a studio pic, I would have tried to eliminate the shadow across the subject's face and also the flash spot on the little guy's helmet is off putting. Creativity gets a high score but that is countered by the technique.

Cheers,
