Taken for either the framing or the construction challenge, this is a photo of a guy waiting on the roof of a school for a concrete pump truck (the green thing in the mid-ground) to boom up some concrete so he can pour a new roof for an elevator shaft. The foreground is piping and walls from a cooling tower.

I got lucky taking this photo, as I was headed up to the roof to watch the pour, saw this shot, and let my camera do the work.

Post processing involved BradP's USM, crop, curves - then change to lighten and fade 50%, hue/sat adjustments, and then all the prep that DPC requires.

Your frame and sky have a cool industrial feel, making the brightly colored elements seem out of place, that's a good thing, it makes this photo interesting to look at. Nice work.

I like the way that the boom (cement pump?) stands out in the middle, although I feel that the chimney rather detracts from the effect.

I think the picture would be stronger without the person. His back is to the viewer and I don't feel a connection to him at all. The green thing, to me, is the main attraction. I've done a perspective correction. See if it helps at all. I think it makes the frame within a frame more appealing to the eyes.

subject vs. frame. In this photo the subject is a lot smaller then the frame and give it the last mitute entry look. I also find the photo is unbalanced and not level. I also think a tighter crop might have made for a better composition. Good luck in this challenge. <5>
