I was kneeling down just a few feet from this guy snapping picture after picture and everything was cool until he decided he had enough and charged me. When zoomed in using a 300mm lens and something charges, it doesn't seem to take them long to get to you.

I actually photographed one of these today. He got mad at me - it is a calm before the storm! I think the composition is great. The depth of field works well - the viewer can see the eyes of the tail without them being distracting. My only pick at this image is the lighting - its a little harsh on top of this head, blowing out the detail above his eyes. The plummage at the top is great as is the neck. Good capture - 7 from me. good luck in the challenge!

Clever use of shallow DOF - I like how the bird is his own background. Light nice and even and lovely catchlight and detail in that eye. Nice composition too. 7

I like the tail, but the head is not sharp enough. Nice angle though.

I very much like how you blurred the feathers in the background. Neat effect. The bird itself, though, could be a bit sharper.

Nice shot, but too much of a green/cyan cast. The highlights on the cheek and beak are blown out all the way too. Strong composition.
