Mick... congrats on another great shot!
I get so homesick for Oregon I can't stand it sometimes when I see your guys' work. My son, Orion, is going to school at OSHU (Oregon Health Sciences University) right now and I'd sure like to get back up that way again. If I get there I want to go on a photo safari with you guys. Your planned Silver Creek Falls trip is only 26 miles from where I grew up so I am really jealous about that! :) |

I would like this photo much better without the photographer in it. It does capture the idea of impending darkness. |

Hmmmmm... I see young Thomas is out taking more award winning photographs. Only this time he is the subject.
Super solid silhouettes of Thomas and the rocks. Clouds are dramatic and reflections in the sand make for an overall very nice composition. It is an excellent technical achievement that will score well with voters not because of where it is at, but because of the quality of the work. Good pictures usually require very little work. I bet very little post processing was applied to this one.
This reminds me of one of a favorite 'people' silhouettes in the desert I took:

In both cases I get the distinct feeling the photographer must be seeing something pretty spectacular if they are chosing NOT to photograph what we are seeing.

"....Croiky, and here's the Oregon Zoomdak. Just look at this little bugger! Getting footage of this bloke is really difficult and we're lucky enough to catch him..."

Hmmm...micknewton? Lol. Someone else who used a GTG shot for a challenge! I love it. Nice colors and saturation. |

Is there a group of photographers who all go out on the same night and get virtually the same shot? |

Great reflection. The figure with the tripod ads great contrast to the otherwise "natural" elements. This is my favorite so far!! I say 10. |
