i didnt vote during the challenge but i probably woulda started my vote with a 7 ... the model kinda doesnt fit the location .. she is too clean .. maybe a tattered darker sarong may have fit the photo a little better ... but over all it's a great shot .. the thumbnail doesnt give it justice either

I was impressed with this image gave it a 9, I thought also it would polarise opinion as it is so raw in emotion, the best of luck in finding any that voted1/3 back in their holes attacking my "metal'entry .!!LOL

I didn't find this picture to be "over staged" at all, and certainly didn't find it to look like "stock photography". Would agree with some comments that more shadow would be nice, but the overall effect is great. I would have given it an 8.

Sorry I didn't do this during the challenge. I gave it a 10 and it deserves every bit of that and more. A very daring and provocative shot. I think the white skirt is perfect as it immediately sets off the imbalance of the person and the location. The panties (by accident?) help the mood even more as I perceive it - out of place and it just doesn't matter anymore. There are bigger things to worry about right now.

I love the setting, composition and final result. Very nice work! Well done!

I gave you a 7! I would have given a higher score, if the model wasn't clean. you are in this dark creepy corner and you are clean as a whistle. It looks like you may have a few boo-boos or dirt on your legs, but the slip (?) is SOOOOOOO clean.

A beautifully composed and executed shot. I scored it an 8. I think I only took off for the lighting - as I would have preferred more darkness and more of a spotlight on her, with the same composition & crop. Still, a VERY effective and emotional image that perfectly met the challenge. Great work!

I just want to add that I think your choice of models REALLY added to the human aspect of the image. Because she is not some impossibly waifish, silicone implanted model, her (I must say, absolutely beautiful) body added an element to the shot that the majority of people can identify with more fully.

A great image for the challenge! A good finish as well. Good thing you included the word "abandoned" in the description. ;-)

Great photo. Love the composition. Perfectly captures what is my concept of the challenge theme. 10

I don't think the perspective on this photo is dramatic enough..to really capture the feeling you want from her (great pose and I love how she is crouched, half hanging, in the corner though)..maybe if you were closer to the wall, or it was titled some, or at a wider angle..it might have that more "dramatic" effect..but the grit and model are just great =)

A curious attempt at the challenge theme. Photographically done generally well and placement of your subject near the edge of the frame is a good idea. Lighting, though in a dark place, is good and muted color in a grey place works.

The viewer is going to ask themselves questions. Why is the subject dressed the way she is? What has made her feel cornered? Why is she huddled in that particular location? These are questions that the image itself does not seem to lead the viewer to think of plausible answers.

The "thing" left of center frame and left of the girl's shoulder has such a prominent position in the frame that viewers regard it as a major element of the composition. It's relationship to the girl is unclear and therefore some voters will think of it as a distraction rather than supporting the image in a significant way.

This is unique, the title gives it more edge also, and is often how I feel in life, I love it.

This is a very good composition. Like the title. Good answer to the challenge. Good color.

That's graphic. Some will say too graphic, but let 'em eat cake. It's a pungent and emotive take on darkness and despair, and makes a disturbingly brutal image. It doesn't look at all posed, but I hope that it is. 9

A little to much light for the project.

I think this is a nice photograph, but it appears overly staged. It is very stock-photo-ish ... which may or may not be a good thing depending ...

One of the most moving in the challenge. I just got done voting on all of them, and its hard to find one to stand beside this one in creating a desperate feeling of darkness. GL, I hope all the best for you in the contest.

where was this taken? this is one of the few shots that went for (in my opinion) human darkness, i.e. suffering, hate, anger, loss, etc and GOT IT! i love it, so raw.

Nice dank image. I like the emotion behind it and the title. I enjoy the atmosphere where its created. There are a couple of things I'd suggest trying differently if you've a mind to: Shifting the focus of the image just a smidge to the right so you cut out the beginning of the wall on the left where it triangles out and changing the color of your models skirt. The pristine nature of the white seems very out of place in the environment and with what she's wearing. I'm not sure why. It DOES pull your attention TO the model but just something about its extreme contrast to the surroundings seems a bit off. Maybe if it was dirtier or a more muted color.. not sure. Oh.. maybe if just a hint of the model's face was visible, that might be an idea, maybe just seeing one eye peeking through her hair.. not a huge deal really though. I think this is a great image over all, I gave a 6.

A cool setting for your shot. The pose is interesting, but the clothing doesn't fit the mood. 8.
