Picture of a votive stand, taken late in the afternoon at my church (Stella Maris). I had the camera set on macro so that the rest of the background would be blurry, drawing the viewer's attention to the stand itself. I wanted to evoke the calm, peaceful, prayerful attitude that's evoked by the church itself.

After I put it on the computer, I did the following edits:
-Adjusted the hue/saturation (pushed it more to the red spectrum and desaturated most colors a good deal)
-Cropped it a little
-Increased the brightness through the "Levels" command
-Ran "Unsharp Mask"

I really wish this shot was in focus and had more subtle lighting. Like a long exposed glow from lit candles. I think it would have scored much higher.

Interesting take on the challenge. The focus is soft - thinking it is hand shake from not enough light. The window makes the background too light (blown highlights). Maybe a lower point of view would make for a more interesting composition and cut some of the glare from the window.

Looks out of focus to me. Also the windows causes blown out highlights. 3

the focus is way too off for me

Poor focus and the backlighting very distracting.

The lack of good clarity really lets this photo down

slightly out of focus. the bright pillar at the back distracts the eye from the interesting geometric composition. color might have been more saturated

I like the idea. A bit too blurry.

Out of focus and not all that interesting with the lighting as it is.

The focus on this doesn't appear to be very good. To much of the background is blown out.

Very blurry and questionable as to what metal is your main subject. Lighting from back is very bright.

Good luck

Maybe it's just my screen but this is really blurry

I cannot find the focus point, too blurry. Subject(s) too centered in photo. Poor lighting.

Interesting idea. Your focus is off and parts of the picture are over exposed.
