Challenge: Metal (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Fujifilm FinePix A340 Zoom
Location: scrap metal recycle yard
Date: Jun 17, 2005
Aperture: f4.8
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/200sec
Date Uploaded: Jun 17, 2005

Taken in a scrap metal recycling yard..originally I wanted to take a picture of the car crusher. However, after viewing those shots, it was just too darn big and uninteresting...these two guys were unloading a truck near a mountain of scrap metal, they caught my attention and I photographed them. Of all the shots I took there, this was my favorite...cropped it, converted to grayscale, adjusted saturation, unsharp mask used and contrast increased.

this is great. the man is a great way to bring the size into perspective. He's not your model which makes it natural. nice work. 8

I love the people thrown in for scale....it makes this photo complete. the bin in the lower left is a little distracting to me just because of the amount of space it takes up

Great photograph. Like the worker included in the composition to give me perspective on how large this pile of scrap metal really is. Really works in b&w. Nice focus. Very well done!

This could just be "another pile of metal" (theres 500 pics - i bet you know how i feel!) then you see notice the little old fella in the suspenders and the image goes *pop*It is so endearing. I do wish there was more clutter instead of great empty dumspter (or whatever that is in left forground) but still emotive metal - i love it!

The couple of people really add a sense of scale to the image and provide a nice little focus point.
