Firstly, have some fun messing your eyes up with this shot by focusing on different areas of the image :)

Shot Info:

Stuck at work, a pretty quiet day - I decided to look around and see what I could take on for the challenge of METAL.

In the showroom we have these ugly metal security shutters, but it was a blindingly bright day outside, and the light was shining through the holes creating a nice contrasty shot.

Now if only i can capture the complexity of the design, and create a enhanced look through good use of depth of field!

I hope i achieved this :-) either way it bought some fun into my dull day! as well as screwing up my eyes :-)

Taken in macro mode with white balance set to tungsten - no other post processing done.

Nicely done. I like this shot, but didn't have time for many comments during the challenge. Normally, I am not a fan of the foreground being out of focus in macro type shots, but it really works here. Now, off to the eye doctor... :-)

thanks to those that `got` this image, and to the rest who just can't understand that a subject does not need to be a lump of metal - open your eyes :P

This is formula, but it is exact formula and you picked the correct components with which to pull it off. Those ovals that become crescents are hypnotic in their repetitive patterns. The light/dark interplay also helps to sing a song of harmonious vibrations to the viewer. Nothing daring, but well done nonetheless. 9.

Nice abstract. I like the shallow DOF. It adds a lot to the photo.

I really am a sucker for good use of shallow DOF and what with the curves and diagonals this one works for me. Lacks a focal point of some kind to really give it more punch but still like it a lot.

Interesting imagery, but might have been better suited for a lighting topic.

Got that optical illusion going - great use of DOF.

mm... I like the idea. Abstract and smart :) Mb a little too simple composition for a picture with so many details. Too simple for a no-minimalism picture.
