I figured that most of the submissions for the obsolete challenge would be photos of junk, trash, and anything else that was old and worn out.

In the computer world, there are daily changes to the technology behind them. One of the most significant and noticeable changes is the the monitors themselves. They used to has very small, dirty-looking screens with a giant body to hold them. They have changed to have very large, crisp screens with almost no extra space for the casing at all. I wanted to depict that change in my photograph.

As far as post processing goes, all I did was crop the image a bit. No other changes were made.

In my opinon the subject lacks interest and the title should have read "Size DOES Matter". This way it would have made more of a statement. As for the photo the screen of the LCD looks either dirty or the overhead lights are playing havoc on the screen itself and projecting a glare. I also would have positioned the screen a little to the left to get rid of the distracting background (shelf perhaps?). However it did fit the challenge very well and has a very nice choice in DOF.

I found the composition unappealing , the use of space for my eye was not good . I found the lighting to be sterile and very flat , use of shadow and grey walls just not appealing.

shadow to the left of the flatscreen is distracting. I would have liked to see a bit moodier lighting.

Hilarious. I always love a image with a sense of humor. Using this super long desk is a great way to add perspective and exaggerate your point.

Whilst the lines all lead to the old terminal, the eye rests on the black of the new monitor, which distracts from the subject. However, great capture!

Great use of close/far away = very well composed shot. Cool job!

Nice! I love your leading lines. I love the shadow and the way the old monitor is slightly out of focus. This is more than just a picture. You've made it thought provoking and appealing to the eye.

That is a rumour started by insecure men ... oh, you were talking about THAT kind of equipment ... he he he ... sorry my bad ...
The composition of the image is decent, but why is the old monitor so far away?
Keep up the good work.

i see the meaning in your picture. The sleak new flatscreen in the limelight and the old dinosaur back in the shadows. Perhaps you could acheive the same meaning by using less space. Good idea though

I do get how the monitor in the background is now obsolete because the new type of monitors are the way to go, but the picture isn't that interesting to me.

Nice advert for dell. But even the older model is not obsolete by no means, nor does it look damaged. I am to be convinced that this meets the challenge. The bright light on the table is a bit distracting. The focus on the older monitor could have been beter.

You need to slap that person who has cleaned that monitor... other than that I really like the set up of this shot.

Nice use of perspective and depth of field control. I just realized that my comment reads like a grade school exam comment...sorry about that.

Great idea. Wonderful lighting. Whatever that is in the background is a little distracting though.

Like the use of space and distance to represent how far we have come.
