19th century wagon wheel...taken at local farm where I purchase hay. Noticed it against the barn and it made me interested enough to pull out the Finepix camera from my truck then start to take pictures...the man I buy hay from thinks I must be crazy running to that wagon wheel with my camera. Then I cropped it, adjusted levels and curves for color and contrast, brightness and contrast adjustment, then unsharp mask.

From the critique club:

I loved this image from first site and i said so in my comment during the challenge. The composition is very appealing and the time of the shot makes that dark fading into the second zone attractive. This is the lower right hand corner. As a color image it is rich and the many different textures add great interest.

I can not offer any tips for improvement except to follow the theme of old to its conclussion. This is simply an idea to explore: We have here an old carriage wheel, a dilapidated like wall, and some shrubs. To me this equals a sepia print with a strong impact. Of course, you will be trading all those wonderful colors for a more aged look. This then becomes a matter of personal choice.

Otherwise, the image as is has a lot of things going for it. It is an image that can hang on any wall. You did great here so keep up the good work and bring us other gems to enjoy.

excellent saturation and color. Would have liked just a little less darkness in the lower right.

The colors are great. I like the texture of the wall and the wood.

Nice colours. There's a few spots of sunshine on the wheel and leaves - a shot slightly later in the day might have given you more interesting light!

Nice composition and color. Textbook rule of thirds. Also, great balance amongst the three elements (wheel, wall, shrub). This is one of my favorites in the challenge.

Nice! Like this one alot. The green in contrast to the red wheel. I might've cropped out more of the evergreen and zoomed in a bit more on the wheel.
