Critique Club
By Paige

Hi there, I was pleasently surprised when this popped up to critique, I have thought about this image a few times since I first viewed it.

Meets the challenge very well, definatley a story here, has huge emotional impact and keeps you wondering.

Your choice of B&W was a good one, leaves a bit to the imagination.

Compositions are very good, wondering about that 1/4 shampoo bottle though, maybe a bit more or none at all.

Awesome DOF on the "fingers" and good focus throughout the tryptic.

Lighting is right on too.

The simple black border works well too.

As I stated before, I still have a hankering for a bit of a body part, but that's just me.

Good job on the challenge, sorry you didn't score higher, I think this was a bit too shocking for some voters.

With this I wanted to try and make a trail from shot to shot for the eye to follow. Not sure exactly how successful it was. But, starting at the left frame, the lower left side. Going up and around to the top left of the second frame. Going down along the line to the bottom of the third frame. Then up to the drain. For me it was all about a beginning and an end. This subject and location was used to catch some off-guard. As you don't readily expect to see this in a bathroom.

The blood was Hershey's Chocolate Syrup. I never thought the smell of chocolate could become nauseating, but if there's enough of it, I guess it could. The deal with the second frame was I thought I left enough for myself to work with on the crop. But when it came down to it, I fudged. The background on it, even blurred; to me seems too distracting.

Thank you everyone who commented. Appreciate the time you took :)

I would love to see this in color, if I'm not mistaken someone had a messy fun time, and this is the leftovers from it. The center photo could have been a little better on the focus near the left side of the "syrup" along the side of the tub the focus gets blurry to soon in my opinion, but I love the photos anyhow, can't help but give you an 8 just cause it makes me smile.

I like the idea, it makes you thnk...I guess the distance on the sides of the central image is a little too much. Also since there is a lot of black in the central image (near the top edge), that frame looks smaller than the other two and that is a little disturbing. Image one is very interesting, image two builds up, but image three is kind of an anti climax- well if you are from some Arabic country where people read from left to right, this is a great sequence!!

Enduring interest...

Nothing distracting in it either... An oasis after viewing most images in this challenge. I bow.

heh... you should check out my picture: "murder- crystol method"... although disturbing, this is good. I think the middle pic, the background is "too" blurry... perhaps if you showed more of the porcelain bathtub the background would be less "in the forgorund" ...

Generally well done. Kinda like a CSI scene.

heh heh! You are prolly getting SLAMMED for this one. Although the scene does look a little staged, I lke the theme. And it definitely works better b/w than in color.

Grim :-) I like this, but I'm not really convinced that it's being a tryptych adds anything to any one of these shots - also, I think I'd have placed the more general shot in the centre. Interesting stuff though

original and provocative. it would have been interesting to see a diferent element that contributes to the story in some of the pictures.

This could be a very shocking photo, not knowing what the substance in the tub is. Very interesting work.

Im not sure that Im getting what your trying to tell me in this pic. I THINK I know..........Would have hated to have to clean up the mess. OK story part is good, but I think you may get voted down because of the middle shot. This is the longest Ive ever look at and studied a DPC photo. Must mean its good.: )
