thanks to all for the comments, and i can see why some point immediately to the `similarity of the background` - however, part of this is part of the composition, although I guess that goes down to how well you read into the image - despite the crabs `camoflague` it still got torn to shreds.
Put it this way - if you went to a beach to find a crab, I think you'd have a hard time finding a crab who's body texture matched that of the surrounding area so perfectly - almost like a chameleon. The short `story` detailing the crabs demise, was, unfortunately not on view during voting - but i hope it helps some of you understand the shot more, as well as the title.
I didn't expect this image to do that well anyway, again I didn't spend as much time as I could have (i don't have much free time) to present a higher quality image (althought I've done that on another challenge ;-)
I'll leave it at that, and thank everyone for their comments :-)

the colour treatment makes little difference, it just tones down the oranges in the crab/rocks a little. The tone of the crab is exactly the same as that of the rocks, very little post editing was done, I like to try and let the images speak for themselves, and not photoshop.
You'll see proof of this on my other challenge entry, hopefully :-)
Really like the Shallow DOF and the monocramatic look. The stones or the crab make an interesting image. For me, it's a little too much going on at once. Still very nice though.
this photo made me stay for a while. I was trying to think how it would look if the crab's parts stoond out more.
But after a long stare I think this is how it's suppose to be.
I think it's wonderful how it blends into the background stones. have the same colors and texture but is still different and unique. Sends all kinds of philosophycal thoughts to me head...
Oh well, great take on the challenge!
