 An illusion.

This was a very large print of the word, similar to how it would look in the dictionary.
Macro is really NOT something the D600L can do, so I created the illusion of an extreme minimal dof. Basics & motion blur applied to complete the effect.

Gonna' tank, maybe fool a few.

Damned near a perfect bell curve though!

Composition: 6, I like the angle

Technical: 7, Good use of DOF, and tack sharp in the middle.

Appeal: 3, I keep asking myself... why don't I like this picture. I dunno, maybe it's just me. A picture of a printed word just doesn't turn me on...

Challenge: 5, Good close-up, probably almost macro shot.

Overall Calculated Average Score: 5, Everything is fine about this image. I just can't bring myself to say I like it enough to vote higher. You obviously have the skills and equipment to get a good macro shot, so maybe you were just having fun with this one. I look forward to seeing more captivating macros from you in the future!

Meets the challenge. Nice contrast. Good enough composition, especially with the superscript "1". A good study in DOF. But alas, a subject that doesn't hold my interest or deliver much of an emotional payload.

This photograph did catch my eye for its simplicity and contrast. The depth of field is wonderful and the concept very original! I also like the squar'ish crop!

I always find these images of words in dictionaries so dull. We get one or two in most challenges, sometimes they are just flat, sometimes with other props.

I do like the copy shots as a rule ... the composition is good but, I would have preferred a totally sharp picture for this type of shot.
