 Finally had some time to take a photo -

I couldn't get what I wanted outside so I went into the studio - brought a plant with a flower in with me and there were some bees' outside so I misted them with water and they became docile - brought one in on a leaf and encouraged him to go on the flower - took about a 100 shots or so and then let the bee back outside and he flew away.

I used 2 studio umbrella lights 2 backlights and a strobe light. Used my 17-35mm L lens with a ef 12 extension tube and a polorizing filter on a tripod sitting about 1 1/2" away from the subject. Held a white piece of paper behind the subject and had 1 of the backlights pointed at the paper from behind.

Imported as a RAW - did some minor adjustments to exposure and brightness - minimal elsewhere. Small crop. Cloned out a small hair that was on the flower and a couple of dust spots since there were a bit distracting. Upped the brightness and contrast and USM.

Worked out quite well - it was getting him to wave was the hard part ;P

Absolutely stunning! And hilarious!

I felt a bit funny about the background though, not sure what it was.

Outstanding. Got a 10 from me for amusement value. Exposure on teh flower could have been improved but what the heck.

Detail on the insect and the flower look really good. Lighting is a little bit bright. Composition looks good.

This one is just too funny, so how did you get it to pose ;-)
Nice white background and setup ... I'll guess that it's a setup shot which couldn't have gone any better. Great work and awesome colors. Good Luck, and hope you paid the model ;-)

I like the title on this shot. Excellent lighting and focus. The colors and details of this shot really make it stand out from the crowd.

I like the 'posture' of the insect and the focus is very sharp throughout. The contrast with the white background works well with the set up. I like how the flower is all in focus although the water or reflection at the bottom of the flower is distracting to me. Gret composition, pose, and focus! Patience pays off...

8 - Very good. Is the other wing broken and he is callling for help because he was 'placed' onto a pink flower? Unusual color combination.

Very nice. Bug, flower, water - should place very high! Love the way the colors 'pop', and the details are fantastic. The title just cracks me up! The lighting is maybe a touch harsh, but overall it's a really good photo.

This is great! You certainly chose the perfect flower, the perfect bug to compliment the vibrant pink, and somehow you managed to get him to the studio so you could have the perfect white background :) Good job.

Looks like he's waving doesn't it. This is a nice tight shot with a good bit of contrast. If it were me, I'd alleviate part of the white above and to the right.

This is one of my favorite bug photos and I've counted over 100 bug photos in this challenge. Great capture!! Very humorous (I love how you got this bee to pose so well for you) Excellent focus with great detail. I love the colors. Good job and good luck in the challenge. I hope this one wins.
