A snail in the mountains. I should have never submitted this photo. It's out of focus and not worth looking at twice in my opinion. I wanted a photo in the macro challenge and this just did not come out very nice.

A great composition with the snail curving out of the top left corner. I like the colors. Wish is were in better focus.

I would like to see the focus here on the shell rather than the snail's flesh. Granted, the snail's flesh is interesting and highly textured, but the shell here is fascinating, looking like an old piece of furniture with an inlaid top and a shellac finish. Good composition and color, though.

Composition: 8, Like the angle of the snail across the image. For a higher score, I tend to prefer looking forward into a subject rather than down on top of it.

Technical: 6, Snail is mostly in focus, but part of it almost looks like motion blur (snail moving too fast?!? ), You could have applied a little gaussian blur to the green surface or cloned out the spots.

Appeal: 6, I like the colors

Challenge: 7, Nice close-up ... almost macro.

Overall Calculated Average Score: 7, NIce

Nice colors to contrast the grey color of the snail body. Nicely placed in the frame.

I like the framing, the lighting, and the background very much. I find myself wondering whether the shell and the eyes are not just a little more interesting than the texture on the back of the neck; then I realize focusing on the shell instead of the head and neck would ruin the framing.

You chose a hard angle for a macro, DOF really takes a beating here. The colors, with the green background are nice, but to much is out of focus. Good Luck 5

Not very well focused but I do like the texture of the creature and the pattern on the shell..

7 - Good. Even though this is not as focused as I prefer, the shape of the snail is near perfect. Maybe a touch more 'contrast' in the colors would also be good, in my opinion.

Nice framing. Contrast seems dull, and I would prefer a litlle more sharpness.

Good attempt, nothing is quite sharp though, and the background and subject start to blend together in the shadows, I little better lighting would def help.

Quite a dark image, possibly needs a little better lighting in order to gain some DOF

Needs a bit more focus.
