this could be really cool if your lighting was a little more dramatic. |

Good idea for the challenge. I like the colors. Softer lighting would have been more appealing. |

Very good close up. The highlights are a little too much. Would have been a better shot if a light difuser was used on the flash, otherwise it's rich in colors. |

Light is a bit harsh. a different perspective would have enhanced this overall - like maybe a coffee pot or cup in the background. |

the harsh light makes these look really unappealing. kinda like... well, we won't go there. diffuse light would help out this shot tremendously. |

Mmmm.... that looks like it smells so good. Now I'm craving coffee. Nice shot, though the lighting looks like it was a tad harsh. |

The color of the coffee beans is a bit too close to the color of poo.
Is this their real color or was the influence of the color of the lighting you used the reason for this?
More diffusion (a sheet in a couple of feet before the light source, or reflection (bounce the light on something big and bright) might also solve it a bit, the light is somewhat intense. |

I really like the light and reflections on the beans. |

The lighting is a little "hot" for my liking. There're a lot of hotspots created by the direct lighting. To fix this you might want to diffuse the light onto the coffee more.
The lighting aside, I like the rhythm and texture in this shot, I would have perhaps chosen a more extreme angle and got a slightly shallower DOF to put the focus on a particular coffee bean and imply said rhythm and texture as opposed to making it more of a focal point like you have here.
A nice idea, but some technical points let you down a little. Hope my comment helps :)

This is a great image but the light is a bit too glaring resulting in loss of detail. 6. Good luck! |

The lighting is very harsh, something a little more subdued (maybe a softbox or some diffuser) would have helped.
The colors also make it feel very flat. |
