Handheld shot - resting on the barrier of a bridge to avoid shake at 1/20. Timing the shot, even with the reasonably quick shutter release speed of the 602 was intriguing - I ended up shooting with both eyes open, one looking through the EVF, the oother trying to be aware of the approaching traffic so that I could time the shot properly. Contrast adjusted, and brightness dropped a little (I'd pushed the exposure to get the motion blur), and hardly cropped at all really. Like the contrast of the detail on the road surface with the motion blur smootness of the cars.

Not very optimistic for it - might yet have to go and shoot some more ...

Ed,

I have reviewed the results of your picture, "Two Cars at Speed". The cars give the feeling of being late for work to me, which probably haunts all commuters. The overall picture looks as though it were taken either in the morning or in the evening with complete cloud cover, a difficult condition for one of those flashy shots that seem to do so well on DPC.

Your focus, exposure, and steadiness are all good. For handheld very good.

I really can't suggest anything that you could do to improve this picture other than try to include something that will hold the viewers interest, so they will come back and have another look. I was kind of with the masses and gave you a 5, primarily because the interest factor just wasn't there.

Feel free to contact me if you have any particular questions and I will be glad to give you my 2 cents worth.

Dick

This reminds me of Grand Theft Auto for some reason....

Very cool image. I like the way that the image is centered so that you can see clearly the center line of the road. I also like that the fact that you can tell the cars are in motion, but at the same time the image is clear. Very nicely taken, good use of texture and pattern.

This makes me feel giddy after a little while, but it's a neat photo, it's given me some ideas.

motion blur = motiont. A sense of motion is missing in a lot of these transportation pictures. Good job at keeping the street crisp. Good luck. Jacko.

Simple and clear (except for the blur of course!). It bothers me a bit that the curves on each side aren't symetrical, but I guess that can't be helped! - 6

wow, i did the exact opposite for my submission (blurred background...).
i didn't think to do it like this. yours looks really good. The exposure was just long enough to show the cars moving but without making it difficult to see what the objects are or messing the lighting.
