oh the things we do for a shot. I like the way the green plays off the pink of the flesh. |

Quite some detail here. And the sacrifice - that is a lot of blood! I'm not sure that the space on the left does anything for the composition. With the camera at a slightly lower angle you could get the mosquito against the green which might be a better contrast. |

AUGG! This shouts out "West Nile". This mosquito has eaten so much that it's about to bust. Good focus and detail. What sacrifice for a photo. |

It's full of blood already, I hope you've smashed it after you took this photo. Perhaps a tighter crop would've been better? |

Talk about suffering for your art. I think you found the the poster-mosquito for the west nile virus. I hope you got him to sign a relase form. |

The images that always suffer from a lack of comments are the ones that are right in the middle ground. Everyone comments on the awesome shots. Some comment on the bad shots. But the middle ones, very few people say anything. So here I am to explain why I voted a 5:
The essential thing in a macro is sharpness in the details. And while this image comes very close, I feel that it fails to be as sharp as it could be around the mosquitto's head and abdomen.
Another thing that could help in the area of composition would be to move just a bit more to the front. Continue to allow a front-to-back side view, but make the "point of impact" (where the "daytime vampire" is doing his dirty work) the focal point of the picture.
Hope the comments help. |

This took a lot of self-sacrifice, assuming it's your own arm, though i guess even if it's someone else's arm they sacrificed for the shot. Nice work anyway, it has a certain bizarre fascination. |
