This is a bit similar to my entry for the "Bokeh" challenge a while back. The voters seem to have an aversion to cactus for some reason.
I also see the white around the thorns. I know that this was shot a long time ago, and it was a good digital shot for the day. I like the star pattern in the top of the cactus. |

| Saw your post about wanting a challenge excluding DSLR users and requesting that people look at your photos and tell you if you are wasting your time. I am not familiar with your camera, but I can tell you that you do have a good eye. The problem with this particular shot is that it is noisy. Look at the thorns... all around they are pixelated. Now this could come from your camera itself (I don't know anything about your camera so I can't say for sure) or it could come from the resizing. What size do your images come out of the camera at? Is all that noise there on your original? Have you thought about using another editing program like Paint Shop Pro or Photo Shop? Feel free to PM me and we can chat. |

| For this contest everyone who has the word âcircleâ in their title is getting a max 10 score. This is a copy and paste version that I am including in every photo that I upgrade to 10 due to the title. We as members of DPchallenge need to be reminded of the topic of the challenge â we really need to reread the topic every time we reach a photo. If circle is in the title and it is appropriate I will give a 10. I am sorry if you do not agree with my method of voting â but scores are all I have. |

| I hope that the viewers can see the circle arrangements of the thorns! This photo is painful, after being bit by a few cacti lol... A little shallower DOF or maybe a tighter crop would have worked well on this. The brown item in the back, a pot rim maybe, is distracting to me. -5 JeB |
