Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: Circle (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Canon PowerShot G5
Location: Manchester, England
Date: Jul 2, 2005
Aperture: 28mm
ISO: 400
Shutter: 1/400 sec.
Date Uploaded: Jul 5, 2005

Spider taken in my garden. Obviously, the circle in question is his web.

I'm not 100% happy with this picture, the chicken wire in the background (which the bramble is tied to) is too visable and the web it's self is rather obscure in places. However, this is first tentative steps into this world!

The picture was taken resting the camera on the back of a chair; I must buy a tripod.

I think that your subject should stand out more from your background. There is not a lot of contrast between foreground/background. The web is neat looking, especially with the dew on it, but that is really the only thing that I like.

I don't really feel like a circle is dominant here. A little more contrast could really help the spider to pop out too.

these are a true wonder of nature, well caught and nice dof

light is very dull and there is no pop ...

I think this could have used a boost in contrast - it looks a little flat and washed out.

this would be a great shot if you got a stronger focus on the spyder and a less distracting backround but I like the idea.
good luck

Could use a bit more saturation.

I recon the background just needs to reced a little. The green blackberries and leaves drsw the attention away from the web, which isn't as prominent as it could be with some supplementary lighting.

A shallow depth of field would help to isolate the spider and the web from the background foliage.
