Nice subject & composition, but it needs more contrast to get the muddiness out of the background and to add more much to the subject. Good Work.

good DOF for this kind of shot. The BG is kinda blueish, pure black might be better. If you had the light more from the side (any side) you'd prolly get more interesting shadows.

Relevance to Challenge (2): 0-No cirlcles, shells are logarithmic spirals.
Color/Lighting/Contrast (2): 1.5 - Nice dark background highlights the subject well.
Sharpness/Quality (2): 1.5 seems well in focus but still soft somehow.
Composition (2): 1
Creativity/Originality (2): 0.5
Score: 4.5, I'll round up cause I like it.

wld have suit the theme "waves" more than circle...

boost contrast slightly to make the background look jet black and the shell to pop out more. why not have it on the sand? very imaginative though!
